The cricketer lends his support by donating gifts to the kids from NGO Sahyog whereas Akshaya Patra Foundation is contributing by gifting mid-day meals

New Delhi, December 22, 2016: What makes the festival of Christmas even more heartwarming is the sheer thought of spreading joy. Reflecting this festive spirit, India’s largest and No.1 radio network 92.7 BIG FM has come up with a unique initiative to spread smiles among kids. The radio station has joined hands with Delhi’s Rapid Metro, together with NGOs Sahyog and Akshaya Patra Foundation, to collect donations in the form of gifts for the kids, in addition to providing mid-day meals.  Adding value to this noble cause, cricketer Virender Sehwag has also come forward and lent his unconditional support for this one of a kind initiative.

The witty and happy-go-lucky cricketer was present at an event held at the Sikanderpur Rapid Metro Station, where he donated gifts and inspired commuters to do the same, so that children from the NGOs can have a memorable Christmas. The gifts collected were then distributed to the kids, thus celebrating Christmas in its purest spirit.

Commenting on the initiative, Virender Sehwag said, “It’s a wonderful feeling when you are a part of someone’s happiness. Spreading joy is what Christmas is all about, and the “Be Santa” initiative by 92.7 BIG FM is an extremely relevant and thoughtful one. It feels great to touch so many lives in such a positive way, and no better occasion to do it than Christmas, the festival which encourages ‘giving’.
