India-Pakistan’s political and diplomatic rivalries are among some of the most intense ones. The common people on both sides of the border are equally affected by it. The cricket matches between the two are a sight to behold. Ranging from fans of the both sides lashing out at each other to the humiliation faced by the player, cricket has seen it all. The matches between the two have some of the highest viewership.

Breaking of televisions and harm to the property is a common scene during the matches by the losing side. The winning side’s reaction is no less than a fiesta. The extravaganza includes people firing crackers, throw parties and distributing sweets.

When Pakistan lost the 1996 World Cup to India, the house of the captain Wasim Akram was stoned. This is an example of shallow and senseless behavior. It’s a game and should be viewed as same. The true spirit of the game lies in spreading positivity and unity. Players have admitted that performance pressure is huge. Many of them tell that they don’t have very fond memories of when they have lost the matches. Fans described the feeling of losing to that of the end of the world.

It’s our duty as responsible citizens to stay away from this type of negative behavior. At the least we can leave the political rivalries out of game. Winning and losing is the part of life. We should support the team weather they win or loose. People need to come in agreement with the fact that it is just a game and the positive spirit of the game needs to be maintained. To keep the morale of the players up.
